As a whiskey lover, he made sure to talk about the best. As a guide he made sue we found the best castles and places for a snack (scones) or a beer. We arrived safely and rested at our daily stops/tours since he is such an excellent driver. As you can tell, Ian made sure we had a wonderful time in Scotland.

One had... read more been to Scotland three times, one had been twenty times. Two had never been. We did Edinburgh on our own (our desire), and then Ian took us everywhere for ten days. We had worked out an itinerary with him before arriving, and then he made changes as we went and he learned our personalities. His driving was skillful and fluid. His knowledge of Scotland and its place in the UK, the world, and popular culture is immense. His conversation is just right as is his presence, giving us just enough 'alone time.' He knew all the shops and restaurants in the towns we visited so we could make all the choices. We got to choose where we stayed so we could control both the ambience and the price. Some placers we visited: the Borders, Abbotsford House, Skye, Mull, Inverness. We wanted to see Tartan weaving and he found that. We wanted to visit the Abbey on Iona, and he made that happen. We wanted a distillery tour and he found the perfect one. We didn't know we wanted a Highland Safari to see grouse and red deer and visit a Bothe, but Ian knew and it was grand!
